System-Built Homes

Better Quality, Better Value
System-built homes are constructed in sections in a climate-controlled factory by skilled craftsmen using precise machinery and methods. System-built homes adhere to the same building codes as traditional, site-built homes. Once the home is placed on its foundation, it is virtually impossible to distinguish from a site-built home. Banks, financial institutions, mortgage companies, appraisers and insurance companies classify system-built homes as equivalent to site-built homes.

Lower Cost - System-built homes benefit from the economies of scale that result from purchasing larger quantities of building materials. As a result, builders are able to negotiate better prices and pass these savings on to the homebuyer. Cost per square foot is typically 15 to 25% lower than site-built homes with comparable quality.

Speed of Construction - System-built homes are typically built, delivered and installed in less than half the time of site-built. Materials are exposed to far less weather than with site-built construction. Weather delays, which cost the homeowner time and money, are also greatly reduced.

Better Quality – Better for the Environment - System-built construction quality is inherently superior to what can be done on a job site. Built with greater structural strength to withstand transport and craning into place, system-built homes use as much as 10% more framing lumber than site built homes. System-built homes are better for the environment. Through efficient use of construction materials, they generate 2.5 times less waste than site-built homes. System-built homes have enhanced levels of insulation, making them 80% more air tight than conventional, site-built homes. As a result system built homeowners receive a substantial savings on energy costs.

Manufactured Housing vs. System-Built Construction

Manufactured construction is similar to system-built construction techniques in that all of the components are constructed in a climate-controlled factory. However, manufactured homes are built in accordance with a federal building code administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and UrbanDevelopment (HUD) instead of more stringent state and local building codes.
